Thank You for Giving to the Lord

Over the last few weeks, I've been privileged to pay a visit to each of the 23 schools in El Salvador where the Convoy of Hope Nurturing Hope Program (NHP) is active. However, I wasn't really expecting the surprise I received from the third graders of Liceo Cristiano Reverendo Juan Bueno Santa Anita.  To give you a bit of background, it is a school that is located within San Salvador, El Salvador and is under the constant pressure of the maras (gangs). The children must fight against the pressure placed on them by the gangs and struggle to live a peaceful life. Additionally, financial resources can often be a great challenge.

In spite of everything, Santa Anita is doing an incredible job to provide a refuge and peaceful place where the children can learn both academically and spiritually. The director and staff are full of energy and desire to provide the best for their students. During my visit, many times over the director expressed what a blessing the NHP had been to the school and the community. The children, she said, came to school very hungry in the morning and thankfully, through the NHP, the school was able to feed the students a healthy meal each day.

So then... what's the surprise they gave to me? The third graders performed for the song "Thank You for Giving to the Lord" in Spanish and with hand motions. How humbling it was to sit and watch, realizing that a small gift of food had provided incredible encouragement and blessing to so many kids.  The link to the video is Thank You for Giving to the Lord... performed by 3rd graders
