The Adventure...

Unmistakable Haitian Art
Yesterday, my heart just about leapt when I met a number of different doctors in route from Haiti in the airport. Their scrubs and Haitian art in hand were absolutely unmistakable. One of them stated, “You don’t want to go to Haiti for anything.” Another man commenting that he and three doctors had seen 2,000 patients in a matter of four days. My mind cannot imagine it nor do I know if I want to. On the other hand, I think it so important for us as Christians to not only sympathize with others in pain but to literally empathize their pain. To feel it ourselves. To share in the sorrows and also the joys of others. The thought strikes me that this is what God asks of us. That we give of ourselves, everything we have for the sake of Christ. That we love with the very depths of our being. It’s easier to turn and walk away or to forget the individual sitting next to me on the plane that may be crying. Easier, though, is often not what is the best, it is not what shows God’s love to the fullest extent.
I am challenged to love with all I am. Jesus Christ loved me with everything He had and still does. He gave his life for me and you. He loves in spite of all. This love I cannot ever fully comprehend but each day that I live for Him, He shows me a bit more and teaches me to love beyond my human capacity.
Please, please continue to pray for Haiti and for wisdom of those that are helping to provide relief and begin in rebuilding.
